Biscuits drop 3rd straight as Generals’ Moore masters Montgomery 1-0
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (biscuitsbaseball.com) – Andrew Moore (7-1) threw a five-hitter on Tuesday night as the Jackson Generals beat the Biscuits 1-0 at Riverwalk Stadium in what was the fastest home game of the season at two hours and 11 minutes.
Moore, a 22-year-old right-hander from Oregon, was making just his 13th start at the Double-A level, but his frequent strike-throwing and rapid work rate kept the Biscuits off-balance for most of the night. Of the five Montgomery hits, only one was an extra-base knock-a two-out triple by Tommy Coyle in the third inning. Moore would go on to strike out four without walking anybody in the complete game.
Jackson would tally their only run of the night on a two-out RBI-double by Marcus Littlewood to plate Ryan Casteel in the fourth inning. The Generals have now scored their last six runs of the series with two outs, and have beaten the Biscuits fourteen times in eighteen tries this season. The first half North Division champions are now 8-1 at Riverwalk Stadium, having won the last eight games of the matchup.
Brent Honeywell (1-1) pitched well in defeat, allowing just the one run in seven innings of work, surrendering only five hits and striking out four. But the Biscuits, who were without their suspended manager Brady Williams, could not provide the 21-year-old righty with any run support on this night.
The Biscuits have lost the series, but will try to turn things around in game four on Wednesday when Chris Kirsch (5-4) takes the mound against Ryan Yarbrough (10-4) at 7:05 PM.
