New Development Coming to Tuskegee Exit
Officials break ground on the public infrastructure for new development coming into Tuskegee.
Exit 38 along Interstate 85 is starting to look a little different as crews break ground on a new development.
“We are breaking the ground on the infrastructure, which is the basic foundation and I can tell you its been a long time coming,” said Mayor Johnny Ford.
Mayor Johnny Ford says it will be on the site of a hotel that was built there in 1973.
But now it will be a new hotel along with a Greyhound Bus station, a Huddle House and a 24 hour service station for cars and trucks, bringing much needed jobs to the area.
“The hotel, 27 jobs. Across the street at the 24 hour service center, will be 40 jobs and the revenues with just those two businesses is supporting the infrastructure development. And we’ll have 7 more sites,” said Program Engineer with Vast Solutions, Roland Vaughn.
Construction is set to begin in October and last about a year.
