DADEVILLE, Ala. (AP) – An Alabama judge is suspended after being accused of sending sexual messages to a woman he met when she went to his office to wed another man.
State judicial investigators filed administrative charges against Tallapoosa County Probate Judge Leon Archer on Wednesday.
The complaint says Archer met a woman in 2013 when she was 34 and went to the probate office to wed a 68-year-old man. The wedding was later annulled.
The charges say Archer struck up a Facebook friendship with the woman and later began sending her sexually explicit messages and nude photos. The messages ended after a newspaper, The Alexander City Outlook, reported on them.
Archer’s lawyer says the judge doesn’t deny what he did and agreed to a six-month unpaid suspension. A hearing is set for Monday.
