Tuskegee’s McCutcheon named BOXTOROW preseason All-American
FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (goldentigersports.com) — Tuskegee junior safety Jonah McCutcheon earned his third Preseason All-American nod Thursday afternoon, and his second in as many days, as he was named to the BOXTOROW Preseason All-American team.
The junior, who was named First Team Preseason All-SIAC, earned All-Conference and All-Region honors to go with his two All-American selections last season. The junior started all 13 games last season and led the team with seven interceptions. He also recorded 40 tackles which included 21 solo stops and recorded 2.5 tackles for loss. McCutcheon recorded five pass breakups and a fumble recovery en route to leading the Golden Tigers to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II playoffs.
He finished 2015 as one of two selections to the BOXTOROW All-American team, and has earned preseason honors from The Sporting News and FootballGameplan.com earlier this summer.
McCutcheon is one of two players from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) named to the team, joining placekicker Nick Christiansen of Miles. He is also one of eight players from an NCAA Division II member school named to the team.
This is the 10tth year that BOXTOROW has administered a Preseason All-American Team.
Tuskegee reports to camp next week and opens practice Thursday, before opening the season September 3 on the road against Clark Atlanta University on a game carried by the American Sports Network.
