A Rainy Work Week

It looks like we will finally see an end to the summertime pattern that has been upon us for the last several weeks. It looks like afternoon high temperatures will be significantly cooler this week, and rain chances significantly higher. The tropical disturbance over the northern gulf now appears to have no potential of becoming a tropical cyclone. However, it still looks like it will give the gulf coast the potential for some very heavy rainfall through the week. The river region could also pick up several inches of rain through Friday.  For tonight, it looks like we will have additional storms in the area after sunset thanks to the area of low pressure moving inland today. Skies may stay mostly cloudy overnight, with temperatures eventually falling into the mid 70s overnight. Monday will start the much more rainy pattern. More numerous thunderstorms can be expected Monday, beginning in the morning hours and lasting through the evening. Thanks to the additional rainfall this week, temperatures will be held a bit lower. We should only top out in the lower 90s for Monday through Wednesday. Overnight lows will still be in the mid-70s, since the additional cloud cover will keep us a bit warmer overnight. By Thursday and Friday, I’m expecting most spots in the river region to remain in the upper 80s for high temperatures. The low pressure center looks like it will finally be picked up by upper level flow sometime next weekend, which will bring down our rain chances and return us back into a more summer-like pattern, with isolated afternoon storms and highs in the 90s.
