Voters Welcome Third Party Candidates
Third Party Candidates are emerging in the race for the White House. Voters are welcoming them with open arms.
Third party candidates are emerging in the race for the White house – as the election inches closer…
But how will they impact the election?
Third party candidates historically haven’t gotten many votes.
But they can influence how the election is swayed. And this year there may be more of an impact than ever.
Political analyst Steve Flowers says the Libertarian candidates usually take some of the Republican votes.
And both Trump and Clinton could see lower poll numbers.
Voters we talked to say they are open to third party candidates.
Nouhoun Traore says, “I have my favorite. I know who I’m going to vote for. But I certainly like to see what option “C” has to offer, and they may have something a little more interesting, a little more feasible, a little more realistic than the kind I want to vote for, so certainly my options are open.”
Aaliyah Rudolph says, “Not everybody is going to like what we have, and I think its an opportunity for everyone to see what they want and hopefully it’s a little bit better.”
Flowers says George Wallace ran as an independent in 1968, carrying five states in the deep South, and almost cost Richard Nixon the election.
