Butler County Students’ First Day of School
The first day of school can be hard on the younger students, like those in Kindergarten. They might have tears at the morning drop-off or afternoon pick-up, but it’s nothing like what the moms of first time students go through.
Thursday was the first day of school for Butler County students, and it was the first day of school for some of the moms.
“He didn’t cry at all,” says Carrie Mayberry, mother of Tylen. “You know, but then I thought, maybe he would hang on to me, but he didn’t!”
Tylen says, “I liked my first day!”
“He didn’t cry, he didn’t do anything. I expected a little bit of crying, but he surprised me,” says Wanda Powell, Ayden’s mother. “You know, he was excited and that made me excited and happy, because I didn’t have to worry at home. But I did miss him, once I got home.”
Ayden had a great first day, telling his mom, “It was really good, and all the people liked me.”
“I was happy that she was happy to go, but when I got to the car I just wanted to cry. I was upset, I missed her all day!” says mother Amber Rogers about her daughter Hailey.
Hailey raced to the car at pick-up to tell her mom and dad, “I like Kindergarten!”
Even though there may have been a few tears on the first day for both the moms and kids, the Kindergarten classes at W.O. Parmer Elementary are ready for the rest of the school year. Don’t worry moms, only about eight more months until summer vacation.
