BayBears picnic on Biscuits 13-3
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (biscuitsbaseball.com) – The Biscuits suffered their worst loss of the season on Monday night, falling in the series finale to the Mobile BayBears by a score of 13-3.
Hunter Wood (4-2) was making his first Biscuits start since the right-hander broke his thumb on June 23 away at Biloxi, and after opening up the game with a perfect first inning, the right-hander would allow a solo home run to Travis Denker and an RBI-single to Eduardo de Oleo in the second inning to make it 2-0 BayBears.
In the fourth, the BayBears would bat around, scoring a season-high eight runs in one inning, which were the most runs allowed by Biscuits pitchers in any one inning this season. Denker led off the inning with a double and would hit a three-run home run to cap it off, falling just a triple short of hitting for the cycle on the night.
Despite the loss, the Biscuits got RBIs from Justin Williams, Granden Goetzman, and Jake DePew, and are now tied with the Chattanooga Lookouts for the North Division Wild Card spot as they head into an off day Tuesday, before opening up a critical five-game series in Chattanooga with the Lookouts, Wednesday at 6:15 PM.
