Thomas finishes seventh in Olympic high jump final
AUBURN, Ala. (auburntigers.com) – Former Auburn track and field athlete Donald Thomas finished in a tie for seventh place in the Olympic high jump final with a clearance at 7-feet, 6-inches (2.29m) on Tuesday at Olympic Stadium, in Rio de Janeiro.
Thomas’ seventh place finish is the highest by an Auburn high jumper at the Olympic Games in program history.
Thomas, representing the Bahamas, made his third-straight trip to the Olympics in the high jump. This is the first time he has reached the final and the highest finish of his Olympic career.
Earlier on Tuesday, current Auburn sprinter Teray Smith recorded a time of 20.66 in heat four of the 200m in his first Olympic appearance for the Bahamas.
