Hornets conclude sweltering preseason camp, eye Texas-San Antonio
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (bamastatesports.com) – “I thought it (preseason camp) went good,” Head Coach Brian Jenkins commented as he walked off the field after Thursday’s practice, bringing an end to preseason camp for the Alabama State Hornets.
“Our guys were very competitive and surprisingly they came in very focused and they stayed focused throughout. This was a tough camp. Some days it was 110-115 degrees, but this group kept going and never wavered.”
“The closeness of this group is what I think our strength is and whenever you have a group that is close you have a group that is going to work to win together and they are going to hold each other accountable.”
The camp started on August 2nd and the team only had one day off since then and that was yesterday (Wednesday) as classes started at ASU.
The team will now take a couple of days off before coming back on Sunday to begin preparations for their season opener at Texas-San Antonio slated for Sept. 3 at 6 p.m.
“The main thing we are going to do once we return is hone in on our plans for that game and put a game plan together and make sure everyone understands what our game plan is and what we want to do,” Jenkins said.
Jenkins will once again hold a weekly press conference which will begin next week. Those press conferences will be held on Wednesday’s at 1:30 p.m. with the opening press conference Aug. 24. This year they will be held in the media room at ASU Stadium
