Severe Weather Preparedness Month Begins
September is National Preparedness Month.
Local emergency management agencies want to make sure you know what to do in case of severe weather.
Even though we are well into hurricane season, severe weather can happen at anytime. Whether its hurricanes, tornadoes, snow storms or power outages there are some things you can do to be prepared.
Autauga County EMA Director Ernie Baggett says to make sure you have a plan in place before severe weather hits.
“Once you develop a plan and say this is what our family is going to do in case this happens, let other people, other family members away from this area, know what that plan is so they know where to look for you in case something does happen,” said Baggett.
Baggett says its also a good idea to pack a severe weather kit.
