Selma Teacher Arrested on Sex Charges with Student

A Selma High School teacher is now facing sex charges after police say she had a relationship with a student.

Authorities say Charlaina Lee Wilson had intercourse with a 15-year-old student multiple times and at different locations, including on school grounds.

Wilson is charged with school employee engaging in a sex acts with a student under the age of 19 years, 2nd degree rape, 2nd degree sodomy, transmitting obscene material to a child by computer, and distributing material harmful to minors.

Police say the situation came to light when an illicit video Wilson had sent to the boy started being passed around by students. They say the video was discovered by a parent, who contacted school officials, who contacted police.

Selma Police Chief John Brock says, “If it wasn’t for this video it wouldn’t come to light. This video for whatever reason surfaced in the last several days and from what I’ve been told, this video was made several months ago. So, its been out there and the students I guess received it the last couple of days and that’s what started this investigation.”

Superintendent Angela Mangum released a statement saying “The behavior of this teacher is not align with the values, core beliefs, and mission of our district. Once the incident was reported, swift and immediate action was taken to remove the teacher from the school to ensure the safety of students.”

Wilson is being held on a more than one million dollar bond.
