Hot and Dry Week Ahead

LABOR DAY: A generally dry pattern continues for today and we are forecasting mainly sunny conditions and highs in the lower to mid 90s. While the chance of rain won’t be zero, odds are very small of any one spot seeing shower, and we won’t mention it in the forecast. Overall, a pretty decent Labor Day for South/Central Alabama.

REST OF THIS WEEK: A persistence forecast is best as the ridge remains pretty strong through the end of the work week. It then begins to be beaten down by strong troughs well to our north. This means that the hot weather is going to return and for the middle of next week highs will continue to be in the mid to upper 90s. Precipitable water values stay down through much of the week ahead, so shower risks will be quite low for South/Central Alabama.
