Golden Tigers ascend 2 spots in D2football.com poll

LIBERTY, Mo. (goldentigersports.com) —  The Tuskegee University Golden Tigers took advantage of several teams falling this weekend, and a 36-13 victory over Clark Atlanta on the road, to move up two spots in the latest D2football.com poll released Tuesday afternoon.

Tuskegee (1-0) used a 23-point victory to move to 17th in this week’s ranking. The Golden Tigers used nearly 400 yards of total offense and a stifling defense to walk out of Panthers Stadium with victory, inching closer to the top 15 where they were at one point last season.

The top five 10 include Northwest Missouri State, West Georgia, Grand Valley State, Minnesota State, Ashland, Shepherd, Ferris State, Central Missouri, North Alabama (down one spot from last week) and Humboldt State.

The next 10 include Midwestern State, Colorado Mines (up nine spots), Henderson State, Indiana, Slippery Rock, Texas A&M-Commerce, Tuskegee, Sioux Falls, Augustana and CSU-Pueblo (down 16 spots). The top 25 is rounded out with Valdosta State, Emporia State, Minnesota-Duluth, Assumption and West Chester.

The Golden Tigers are the only school from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) ranked inside the top 25.

Tuskegee faces Albany State (0-1) this Saturday at Garrett-Harrison Stadium in Phenix City (Ala.). Kickoff for the Whitewater Classic is set for 5 pm (est), and the game can be seen on the Tuskegee Digital Network.
