VERONA, N.Y. (bamastatesports.com) – The Alabama State University men’s golf team completed play at the 54-hole Turning Stone-Tiger Invitational with a three-day total of 943 (310-309-324).  The Invitational was hosted by the University of Missouri.

It was the first match of the season for the reigning SWAC Champions as they begin to work their way towards another SWAC title in the spring of 2017.

Kirabo Reed was the low Hornet in the match with a 54-hole total of 232 (76-79-77).  He was followed by Quincy Stith’s 235 (77-76-82) and Mbongeni Maphosa’s 237 (76-77-84).

The other two participants for ASU were Charles Griffin who finished with a 243 (81-79-83) and Alex Roxas’ 245 (86-77-82).

“Our talent came out in spurts, but the course provided challenges for the entire field, including world-ranked amateur golfers,” Head Coach Dr. Gary Grandison said.  “I am hopeful that our young guns are inspired by the experience and are ready to mature.”

The Hornets will be back in action Oct. 2-4 when they play at the Skyhawk Fall Classic in Paris Landing, Tenn.  The Invitational is hosted by Tennessee-Martin.
