Tuskegee cross country trods familiar ground at West Georgia

 

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (goldentigersports.com) —  For the second consecutive week, the Tuskegee University cross country teams will be running on a course they are familiar with as they travel to participate in the UWG Season Opener on Friday.

Tuskegee, who ran in the season-opening Strut’s Season Opener in Oxford (Ala.), will continue to repeat their 2015 schedule in week two with a meet in Carrollton (Ga.).

On the men’s side, Frederic Higgins (Diamond Bar, Calif.) will look to improve on his opening meet time of 18:48.20 when he hits the course at West Georgia. Other runners looking to improve and challenge this week include Austin Henderson (19:04.30 a week ago) and David Dixon (Fayettville, Ga.) who finished with a time of 19:20.70.

For the women, Matoaka Wilson (Lithonia, Ga.) ran the fastest time for Tuskegee last week and will look to do the same improving on her time of 19:48.80.

Wamika Kemp (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished last week in a time of 20:21.60, while Ariel Watson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Chante Warner (Hueytown, Ala.) look to improve on their time.

The women’s 5k begins at 5 pm (est), followed by the men’s 8k at the UWG Athletic Complex.
