Police Officers Educate Kids on Public Safety
Former law enforcement officers spent the morning explaining to children and teens proper procedures if pulled over by an officer.
The event was part of Montgomery’sĀ Strategic Weapons and Tactics Youth Foundation’s Mentoring Program also known as S.W.A.TĀ involving kids ages 5 to 18. They were given three rules when pulled over: be respectful, have all documents ready and keeping their hands visible at all times. Parents say it’s important for the youth to learn how comply with officers anytime they get behind the wheel.
“You don’t have to allow people to disrespect you but also it is earned. They just need to comply with whatever the officers ask, as long as it’s nothing unethical,” says Tiffany Carstarhen.
