MPD Chief of Operations Placed on Administrative Leave

The Montgomery Police Department has placed MPD Chief of Operations Scott Simmons on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation to be performed by the City of Montgomery’s office of City Investigations.

The action was taken following information uncovered during a larger operation by an MPD law enforcement partner agency.

Chief Simmons, hired by MPD in 1994 and assigned to the Chief of Operations position earlier this year, remains an employee of the Montgomery Police Department.

The investigation is continuing, and no additional information is available for release at this time.
