Golden Tigers up a spot in D2football.com poll
LIBERTY, Mo. (goldentigersports.com) — The Tuskegee University Golden Tigers used a 10-point victory over Albany State last weekend to move up one spot in the latest D2football.com poll released Tuesday afternoon.
Tuskegee (2-0) used a 28-18 victory to move to 16th in this week’s ranking. The Golden Tigers used 400-plus yards of total offense and a stifling defense to walk out of the Whitewater Classic with victory, inching closer to the top 15 where they were at one point last season.
The top five 10 include Northwest Missouri State, West Georgia, Grand Valley State, Ashland, Shepherd, Central Missouri, Ferris State, Colorado School of Mines, North Alabama and Midwestern State.
The next 10 include Texas A&M-Commerce, Henderson State, Indiana (Pa.), Slippery Rock, Sioux Falls, Tuskegee, Augustana, Valdosta State, Minnesota State (down from fourth) and Emporia State. The top 25 is rounded out with Azusa Pacific, Humboldt State, Minnesota-Duluth, Assumption and Florida Tech.
The Golden Tigers are the only school from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) ranked inside the top 25.
Tuskegee faces Florida A&M (0-2) this Saturday at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile (Ala.). Kickoff for the 5th Quarter Classic is set for 6 pm (cst), and the game can be heard on the Tuskegee Digital Network.
