Tuskegee basketball hires LaRell Dock
TUSKEGEE, Ala. (goldentigersports.com) — Tuskegee University head basketball coach Jerry Dunn announced the addition of LaRell Dock to the coaching staff for the Golden Tigers for the upcoming 2016-17 season.
“I am thankful for the opportunity,” Dock said. “I am excited to be here, at a place like Tuskegee and cannot wait to get started with such a great coach like coach Dunn.”
Dock comes to Tuskegee after serving as an assistant coach at Pfeiffer University for the past two seasons. While at Pfeiffer, Dock helped lead the team to their first conference tournament semifinal berth in five years during the 2014-15 season. He helped the team to a 10-win improvement during that season, as the team finished second in NCAA Division II in field goal percentage defense. Last season at Pfeiffer, Dock helped lead the team back to the conference tournament with 10 conference victories during the regular season.
Before his time at Pfeiffer, Dock served two years as the assistant varsity basketball coach at TC Williams High School in Alexandria, VA. There he helped the Titans when back to back district championships. He has also worked numerous summer basketball camps in the Washington DC area as well as coordinating individual workouts for high school athletes. He began coaching as a student assistant at Lock Haven University under former head coach John Wilson.
Prior to coaching, Dock was a two-year starter for the men’s basketball team at Lock Haven from 2008-2010. He received his bachelors degree in Recreation Management with a concentration is Fitness and minor in Sport and Exercise Psychology.
Dock is a native of Largo, MD where he spent his childhood and was a two-year letter-winner and team captain as a senior in football at Duval High School.
