Stolen Tomahawk Returned to Kowalgia, Suspect Charged
Alabama news Network first broke the story last week of the Tomahawk stolen from the Kowaliga Indian at a popular restaurant at Lake Martin.
It’s a staple that people come from miles around to admire– the famous Kowaliga Indian has his tomahawk once again.
Surveillance video showed a young male grabbing it and walking away on the evening of September 4th.
A week later, deputies have their suspect and the tomahawk.
Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin says that John Mason Friday returned the tomahawk to the Kowaliga Restaurant… and turned himself in to authorities. Friday has been arrested and charged with third degree property theft.
He has since been freed on bond.
Investigators have recalled the warrant against Casey Foshee.
Sheriff Franklin says there were others involved in the theft who could also face charges.
But that won’t happened until the case heads to a grand jury in October.
