Tuskegee XC rambles at Columbus’ Cougar Classic

FT. BENNING, Ga. (goldentigersports.com) —  Kayla Howard finished in the top 15 for the women and Frederic Higgins 16th for the men at the Cougar Classic Saturday morning at Stewart Park.

Howard was the top female finisher, crossing the line in a time of 21:13.09 to finish 11th overall in the race just eight seconds out of the top 10. Matoaka Wilson finished 20th overall in a time of 23:49.83, while teammate Wamika Kemp finished 21st overall with a time of 24:03.23.

Following the pair was Ariel Watson (24:32.11) and Chante Warner (24:35.80) in 23rd and 24th overall.

As a team, the women finished fourth overall in the event.

On the men’s side, Higgins finished in a time of 18:03.47 to finish 16th overall. Four Golden Tigers crossed the line from 21st to 24th in the race. David Dixon crossed the line in a time of 18:44.72, while Austin Henderson finished in a time of 19:05.02 and Josh Gaston in 19:06.58. Meanwhile, the final runner – Ayinde Chism – crossed in a time of 20:17.90.

As a team, the Golden Tigers finished third overall, just behind Albany State.
