Selma Man Convicted of Arson
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
A Dallas County jury finds a Selma man guilty of arson after a two-day trial.
District Attorney Michael Jackson says Clement Heard set his girlfriend’s house on fire during a domestic dispute back in 2014.
He says the woman and her children were inside the house at the time but everyone managed to get out safely.
Jackson says Heard stood outside and watched the house burn.
“Him and his girlfriend had got into a dispute because Clement had gotten drunk. He fell asleep. She went down to the neighbors house to make a phone call. She got back. He started questioning her about everything, angry. And he ended up hitting her with a broomstick and burning the place down.” said Jackson.
Jackson says the jury deliberated for about two hours before returning a guilty verdict.
