Diamond Trojans begin Fall practices
TROY, Ala. (troytrojans.com) – The Troy baseball team begins preparations for the 2017 season with fall practice, which begins on Friday at Riddle-Pace Field.
The Trojans will have 19 intrasquad games and a Sunday afternoon game against the Ontario Blue Jays on October 19. Three intrasquad games will feature tentative world series games at the beginning of November.

“Starting practice is always a challenge because we’ve got new players we need to implement and understand the tempo that we work at and what we’re trying to accomplish.” Mark Smartt said. “The first weekend of practice is always new and different. I’m looking forward to it. Our kids have done a lot of things to this point and worked really hard.”

- The 2016 team went 32-26 and won its final two series’ of the season over Georgia State and South Alabama.
- The Trojans had three players named Summer League All-Stars in Joey Denison, Chase Smartt and Corey Childress.
- Troy features 13 newcomers, including six junior college transfers and seven true freshmen.
