AUM stumbles in 2-0 loss to Georgia College
MONTGOMERY, Ala.(aumathletics.com) —- The Auburn Montgomery women’s soccer team fell short to Georgia College 2-0 at home on Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
• AUM fell to 4-4-1, while Georgia College improved to 4-3-1.
• Although no shots hit the back of the net, AUM outshot the Bobcats 8-2 in the second half.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Freshman Ruby Mendez attempted eight shots with four being on frame. She continues to lead the Warhawks in shots and shots on goal.
• Freshman Chelsie China tallied a shot on goal in the match.
• Junior goalie Morgan Glenn earned her lone save in the second half of the contest
- Bobcats goalkeeper Ashlee Graham saved five Warhawk shot attempts.
- Maddie Stephen added a goal for Georgia College while Amanda Bartholomew added a goal and an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Georgia College broke the scoreless tie at the end of the second half when Bartholomew received a long pass from Miller and chipped the ball over Glenn in the 43rd minute.
• A third of the way through the second half, the Bobcats added their second goal of the match when Stephen put a shot in the upper left corner from the top of the box. She was a assisted by Bartholomew.
- Not giving up hope, the Warhawks battled back in the second half amassing eight shots for the period. Unfortunately, solid goalkeeping prevented AUM from cracking the score column.
• Glenn tallied her sole save of the match in the second half, as the Warhawks fell to Georgia College 2-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with nine shots, and put five on frame. Georgia College ended the game with 10 shots, and put three on frame.
• Georgia College picked up an astounding 10 corner kicks (nine in the first half) while Auburn Montgomery earned just two.
