MPD Arrest Second Teen in Montgomery Homicide Investigation

arrestThe Montgomery Police Department has arrested a second teenager in the shooting death of 23-year-old Jermaine Hogan of Montgomery. Hogan was wounded in a Sept. 11 shooting and died more than two weeks later, on Sept. 27.

MPD detectives charged a juvenile male from Montgomery with one count of capital murder. The suspect, who has not been charged as an adult and will not be publicly named because of his age, was taken into custody by MPD patrol units. He was transported to the Montgomery County Youth Facility.

MPD previously charged Eric Wooten, 16, also of Montgomery with one count of capital murder in connection with the homicide. Wooten was placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he is being held without bond.

MPD and Fire Medics responded to the 3700 block of Whiting Avenue at about 7 p.m. Sept. 11 after receiving a report that a subject had been shot. There, they located the victim, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The injuries proved fatal, and Hogan was pronounced dead on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

No additional information is available for release relative to this ongoing investigation.
