Rep. Craig Ford sent the letter to state Democratic Party leaders Nancy Worley and Joe Reed.
In that letter, he addressed the lack of Democrat representation in local elections across the state.
He also called for the Democratic leaders to resign.
Nancy Worley says she says Ford was just trying to “grab attention” as his job as House Minority Leader is “on the line.”
We wanted to know what college Democrats at ASU had to say about the state of the Democratic Party in Alabama.

“We have to find a way to make politics more engaging and more interesting and fun and cool again. That’s a really big issue in the state of Alabama. So I think if we can find a way to reach out to the younger generations and college students, like myself, we will have a better representation of Democrats in office,” said ASU student, Clarence Sutton.

History and Political Science Professor Derryn Moten says, “this is not the time for the leadership of either party to sort of abandon ship. This is really a time when people should galvanize their troops.”

Ford says he is stepping aside as House Minority Leader to allow new leaders to focus on the future of the state Democratic Party.
