One More Hot Day, Much Cooler Tomorrow
ONE MORE VERY WARM DAY: The record high tomorrow is 88 for Montgomery, that record looks fall as we are forecasting at high of 90. The cold front we are waiting on will begin to push into Alabama during the evening hours and make its way out of the state by Friday morning. Ahead of the front, skies will be partly cloudy to start, with more clouds building as the day progresses. There will be enough instability for the development of showers and storms, but fortunately not enough to support an organized severe weather threat. The better chances of showers and storms will be in the northwestern parts of the state, and gradually lowers as you move to the southeast. Rain totals will be 1/2 inch or less, with many communities getting less than 1/10 inch.Once the front passes overnight, any rain chances will be done.
FEELING LIKE FALL: The front will be pushing out of the state tomorrow and behind it, much cooler air flows into the state on Friday. Expect a clearing sky Friday, and we won’t get out of the mid 70s with a fresh northwest breeze of 10-20 mph. This will be a big air mass change as temperatures will be 15-20 degrees cooler Friday afternoon, compared to Thursday.
WONDERFUL WEEKEND WEATHER: The weekend will start off with our coldest morning temps on Saturday with most places dropping into the 40-46 degree range, the coldest so far this season. Saturday and Sunday will feature sunshine in full supply, the high Saturday will be in the lower 70s, followed by upper 70s Sunday. Doesn’t get much better than that in Alabama.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: For high school games Friday night, it now looks like the sky will be mostly clear, and temperatures will be cool, falling into the 50s. You will need a jacket this week.
Alabama will host Texas A&M Saturday afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium (2:30p CT kickoff)… the sky will be sunny; 68 degrees at kickoff, falling into the upper 50s by the final whistle.
Auburn hosts Arkansas at Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday evening (5:00p CT kickoff)… the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from near 67 degrees at kickoff, into the upper 50s by the end of the game.
RACE WEEKEND AT TALLADEGA: Friday will be breezy and much cooler with a sunny sky, and a high in the mid to upper 60s. Expect a bright sunny sky Saturday and Sunday with fantastic temperatures; the high Saturday will be close to 68, followed by a high of 75 Sunday. Temperatures will drop to near 40 degrees early Saturday morning at the Superspeedway.
NEXT WEEK: High pressure looks to be firmly in control of our weather next week, meaning sunny and dry days, and slowly moderating temperatures. The 70s from the weekend, will be replaced with 80s, while lows climb back into the 50s. It will remain very nice, still no major rain events in the forecast through next week.
