Golden Tigers tumble in AFCA polling

WACO, Texas (goldentigersports.com) —  The Tuskegee University Golden Tigers fell to 17th in this week’s American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll following a 10-9 homecoming loss to Kentucky State University last Saturday.

Tuskegee (6-1) is one of six teams from Super Region 2 ranked inside the top 25 this week. They trail North Alabama (seventh) and Valdosta State (14th), but they are ahead of UNC Pembroke (18th), Newberry (23rd) and Wingate (24th). There are two other teams from the region receiving votes in this week’s poll – West Alabama and Florida Tech.

The top three remain the same as they have in the the past few weeks – Northwest Missouri State, Grand Valley State and Shepherd. They are joined in the top 10 by Sioux Falls, Harding, California (Pa.), North Alabama, Texas A&M-Commerce, Ashland and Emporia State.

The next 10 include LIU-Post, Indiana (Pa.), MIdwestern State, Valdosta State, Azusa Pacific, Assumption, Tuskegee, UNC Pembroke, Wayne State and Fairmont State. The remainder of the top 25 includes Minnesota-Duluth, Ferris State, Newberry, Wingate, Notre Dame and Southwest Baptist (tied for 25th).

Tuskegee returns to action this weekend as they hit the road for the first two consecutive road games to close the regular season, facing Central State (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon. The game is scheduled to kick off at 1 pm (est) and can be heard on the Tuskegee Digital Network, with the pregame show beginning at 12:45 pm (est).
