Unseasonably Warm and Dry Weather

DRY WEATHER CONTINUES: With little to no rain in the forecast, things are not looking good for the week ahead as drought conditions only get worse. The positive in the forecast is these fall days sure are very nice with their cool starts and warm afternoons. Today, after the cool start this morning, temperatures will rebound nicely into the mid 80s for most locations.

WEDNESDAY: Another cool morning with warm afternoon. With no soil moisture, temperatures will climb quickly, and we will see a highs over 80 degrees lows should in the mid 50s early Wednesday. It will be another mainly sunny day, but expect passing clouds from time to time.

THURSDAY RAIN CHANCES?: Now don’t get your hopes up, but we will mention a small risk of a shower, due to an upper-level wave that will pass through the state, bringing scattered clouds. With the additional clouds, temps should hold in the lower 80s. Once again, though there is a chance of rain, most spots stay dry, and if you see rain, it won’t be a lot and definitely not enough to ease drought conditions.

THROUGH THE WEEKEND: One thing we know about the weekend is it will be dry. The weather will feature sunny days and clear nights. The models are struggling with the weekend temperatures with one run suggesting temps trending downward, while the next suggest temps stay warm with highs in the 80s and lower in the 50s. I think this is what will occur, so we are going to stay in the mid and upper 80s for the weekend with lows in the mid 50s expected.

FOOTBALL FORECAST: For those high school games Friday night, the weather will be mainly clear and dry. Temperatures at kickoff in the 70s, and falling into the 60s by the final whistle. Not nearly as cold this week as last week.

Auburn is on the road as the head to Oxford, MS to take on the Ole Miss Rebels for a 6:15PM kickoff. Great weather for northern Mississippi on Saturday. Rain is not in the forecast, and after highs near 80°, temperatures should be 70° for kickoff, dropping though the 60s during the game under a clear sky.

Alabama is off this week.

HEADING INTO NOVEMBER: For next week, we are still looking to stay dry and temperatures will remain above average. Halloween looks fine for all those ghouls and goblins. No real threat of rain the first week of November as the long dry spell continues. Temperatures look to stay at or above average due to the drought conditions.
