AUM stumbles in final home match to West Florida

MONTGOMERY, Ala.(aumathletics.com)— The Auburn Montgomery men’s soccer team fell in the final home match of the 2016 season to the University of West Florida 5-0 Thursday afternoon.

NOTES
• AUM fell to 2-13 on the year, while West Florida improved to 7-5-2.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Sophomore Nino Bozesan led the way for the Warhawks with three shots during the match with one being on frame.
• Freshman Simon Van Rheeden added two shots with one being on frame.
• Sophomore Cedarian Brunelle provided the final shot on goal for the Warhawks, and finished the night with two total.
• Erick Rivera led the way for the Argonauts with three goals on four shots during the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• West Florida took an early lead with a goal in the sixth minute of the match. Gonzalez headed the ball into the net off a corner from Rehrig.
• The Warhawks nearly tied the game seven minutes later on a shot by Bozesan as the keeper dove to save the ball. Neither team added another goal in the first half, as West Florida held a 1-0 advantage at the break.
• AUM came out in the second half firing off five shots in the first ten minutes, before West Florida made an attempt at goal.

• West Florida added its second goal of the night when Bethell played a ball into Rivera to make the score 2-0.
• After another Argonaut goal in the 67th minute from Gillies, Rivera tallied his final two goals in the 68th minute on a clearance from the keeper and in the 77th minute on his own. West Florida took the victory 5-0 in the final home game for the Warhawks.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with 14 shots, and put three on frame. The Warhawks outshot the Argonauts 9-6 in the second half.
• West Florida finished the match with 16 shots, and put nine on frame.
• AUM tallied six corner kicks in the match. West Florida finished the match with five.
• West Florida totaled three saves on the night, while AUM picked up four.

UP NEXT
• The Warhawks will return to action on Friday, Oct. 28, when they travel to Jackson, Tenn. to face Union University. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
