A Shower Possible, Weekend Record Highs

SHOWER TODAY?: We will continue to mention isolated showers today with a weak surface boundary passing through the state, but most places won’t see a drop, and there won’t be any drought relief. We will see more clouds today and highs will still be well above average for this time of year. If you don’t see rain today, which most of us will not, it will be well into November before rain chances return…the long dry spell continues.

THE FINAL WEEKEND OF OCTOBER: Friday will be warm and dry with ample sunshine and a high up in the upper 80s. Saturday and Sunday will be sunny warm days, with clear pleasant nights. Afternoon highs will both Saturday and Sunday should also be in the upper 80s. No chance of rain.

FOOTBALL FORECAST: For those high school games Friday night, the weather will be mainly clear and dry. Temperatures at kickoff in the 70s, and falling into the 60s by the final whistle. Not nearly as cold this week as last week.

For Saturday’s Magic City Classic in Birmingham (Alabama State vs Alabama A&M… 3p CT kickoff), the sky will be sunny with temperatures falling from near 85 degrees at kickoff, into the 70s by the fourth quarter.

Auburn is on the road as the head to Oxford, MS to take on the Ole Miss Rebels for a 6:15PM kickoff. Great weather for northern Mississippi on Saturday with no rain. Temperatures should be in the mid 70s at kickoff, dropping though the 60s during the game under a clear sky.

Alabama is off this week.

HALLOWEEN FORECAST: 1984 was the hottest Halloween on record for much of the state of Alabama and the record is 90° at Montgomery; temperatures will be near that this year. It will be a very warm and dry Halloween for the kiddos. By the time the trick-or-treaters start making their rounds, temps should be in the 70s and it will be dry.

INTO NOVEMBER: November will start off the way October ends; the weather stays dry and very warm. Highs will remain in the mid to upper 80s through midweek, and possible into the first weekend of November. The long range global models suggest we could see a better chance of rain and perhaps cooler temps towards the end of the week, but still won’t be a big rain event, and I am not completely sold on this, so we will have to wait and see.

Have a terrific Thursday!!!
Ryan
