More Record Warmth, Temps Tumble Late This Week

ROLLING INTO NOVEMBER: Today will be another mainly sunny and warm day, and yes, another record high is forecast. For November 1st in the city of Montgomery, the record high is 87° set in 2004, today we are forecasting a high of 89°.

For Wednesday and Thursday easterly/southeasterly flow will be slowing increasing moisture levels which will allow for more clouds, and temps to be in the mid 80s. Late Thursday, a frontal boundary bring us the hope a few scattered showers overnight and into Friday, but with limited moisture, there is just not much chance for organized rain. Friday will be much cooler with a brisk northwest breezy, and highs in the 70s, and that will set up a great weekend of weather.

WEEKEND WEATHER: Dry and very nice weather for the first weekend of November. Comfortable temps with those afternoon highs in the 70s and overnight lows in the 40s, and no threat of rain both Saturday and Sunday.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: For round one of the high school playoff games Friday night, the weather will be clear and very cool with temperatures falling into the 50s. You will need a jacket.

Auburn will host Vanderbilt Saturday (11a CT kickoff)… it will be a perfect day for football with a sunny sky… temperatures will climb from 68 at kickoff, to near 72 by the fourth quarter.

Alabama will be on the road; they play LSU Saturday night (7p CT kickoff)… the sky will be clear with temperatures falling through the 60s. A great night for football.

NEXT CHANCE OF RAIN: The long range models still show the next chance of widespread rain arrives sometime next week perhaps mid week, while others push the rain closer to the next weekend. Some encouraging news is that a weather pattern flip seems likely by mid-November, which will open the door for more frequent rain producing systems and much cooler weather heading south. Until then, the long dry spell continues…
