Golden Tigers gain ground in latest poll
LIBERTY, Mo. (goldentigersports.com) — The Tuskegee University Golden Tigers climbed two spots to 18th in the latest D2football.com poll released late Tuesday, following their 42-14 victory over Central State this past weekend.
Tuskegee (7-1) returns to action this weekend on the road against Miles with kickoff set for 5 pm at Birmingham’s Legion Field.
The Golden Tigers are one of four teams from Super Region 2 ranked in this week’s poll. They are behind North Alabama (third), and ahead of Valdosta State (19th), UNC Pembroke (20th) and Florida Tech (25th).
The top six remain the same from last week with defending national champion Northwest Missouri State coming in at the top spot, followed by Grand Valley State, North Alabama, Shepherd, Sioux Falls and Emporia State. They are joined by Texas A&M-Commerce, California (Pa.), Harding and Midwestern State.
The next 10 include Indiana (Pa.), Minnesota-Duluth, Central Missouri, LIU-Post, Azusa Pacific, Ferris State, Ashland, Tuskegee, Valdosta State and UNC Pembroke. The top 25 is rounded out by Fairmont State, Assumption, Bemidji State (unranked last week), Southwest Baptist (unranked last week) and Florida Tech (unranked last week)
The game will be carried by the Tuskegee Digital Network on Saturday (audio only), and it will be televised by the ASPiRE Network.
