Lady Hornets “formal” request: “Black shirt Saturday” please

The Alabama State women’s volleyball team ran off to their fifth consecutive victory and 16th win in their past 17th matches on Friday night with a straight sets triumph over Prairie View A&M with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 victory.

It was the Lady Hornets’ 12th game this season in which it won in the minimum amount of sets in three.

Ni’yesha Brown recorded her 10th game this season in which she tallied at least double digits in kills with a team-high 11 and four other ASU players contributed with at least five kills to ramp up the balanced attack that kept the Lady Panthers defense on its’ toes.

Efficiency and team ball have been keystones for this Lady Hornets’ squad as it collectively hit a .405 hitting percentage.

Alabama State (17-8 overall, 14-0 SWAC) improved to 36-2 in conference matches since the 2013 season and will next host Texas Southern in a match between the top two teams in the conference on Saturday at 7 p.m. from Lockhart Gymnasium for Black Out Night.

Fans are encouraged to wear black shirts.
