Anderson’s TD lifts Alabama State past Jackson State 14-7
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Alex Anderson scored on a 15-yard run with 9:01 left to play as Alabama State defeated Jackson State 14-7 on Saturday.
Anderson’s score was set up when Christian Jacquemin punted the ball 30 yards with the Tigers at their own 12-yard line. Khalid Thomas returned it 12 yards, and a Jackson State penalty put Alabama State (3-6, 3-5 Southwestern) in scoring position.
Jackson State (3-6, 3-4) turned the ball over on downs and punted on its final two possessions.
After a scoreless first half, Jarin Morikawa threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Jairus Moll with 7:55 left in the third to give the Tigers their only lead of the game.
Jujuan Young-Battle threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Palmer Graham just more than three minutes later to tie it. Young-Battle threw for 125 yards and ran for 43.
Morikawa was 24 for 43 for 234 yards.
