One Person Dead Following Attack on Police Officer at the Selma City Jail

One man is dead after police say he was shot during an attack on a police officer at the Selma City Jail. Selma police say the man was being booked into the jail when he attacked a clerk with a box cutter. A police officer then tried to intervene and subdue the man. During the altercation he tried to grab the police officer’s gun. The gun went off several times. Police say the man then retreated to the back part of the jail. The police department’s SWAT Team entered that part of the jail and found the man dead.
