Clearing Sky and Continued Dry Weather
Today we should start the day off with clouds, but as our winds shift out of the north, drier air moves into the state, we will see a clearing sky; highs will be in the mid to upper 70s. With a clear sky tonight, temperatures will be much cooler and lower 40s are expected. Thursday and Veterans Day Friday will feature sunny afternoons, highs in the lower 70s, with clear and chilly nights, lows in the 40s. Another frontal boundary will push through the state late Friday, but once again, it will be a dry front and it will be delivering perhaps the coldest weather of the season over the weekend.
CHILLY WEEKEND WEATHER: Sunny and chilly weather will highlight our Saturday and Sunday. Both days will be dry and gorgeous. Afternoon highs will be in the 60s, while overnight lows are expected to be in the 30s and lower 40s.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: For the second round of the high school playoff games Friday, a clear sky with temperatures falling from 60 at kickoff into the upper 40s by the final whistle…Take the jackets and blankets!
Alabama hosts Mississippi State Saturday (11:00a CT kickoff); the sky will be sunny with temperatures rising from near 63 at kickoff, to 68 by the fourth quarter.
Auburn travels to Athens, GA to take on the Georgia Bulldogs (2:30p CT kickoff)… a perfect day for football. About 68 degrees at kickoff, dropping back into the low 60s by the final whistle.
HEADING INTO NEXT WEEK: The week looks to start off dry, with seasonal temperatures. Looking long range, things finally begin to change as the upper air pattern switches over North America, and this should open the door for a more active weather pattern, meaning more frequent rain producing systems from mid-November through December.
