The Roberson Effect
High school athletics have always been a great avenue for maturing students physically and mentally, but head basketball coach Jason Roberson of Prattville Christian Academy believes that his mission goes much beyond the court.
“Coach Roberson embodies the PCA mission of life readiness. he works with these kids to ready spiritually for life, to get ready academically and to get ready physically,” PCA President Ron Mitchell said.
Coach Roberson was the pioneer of PCA basketball from the very start back in 2001. His mission and statement has never changed and PCA President Ron Mitchell would agree. “We gotta keep the main focus the main focus. All god asking from us is to give our very best in whatever we do, and so that’s what we talk about, we strive on giving our best every single day. Whether that be on the basketball court, in the classroom, or in life,” says PCA Head Basketball Coach Jason Roberson.
“Coach Roberson was here for two years and then left, but came back when I came here in 2004, and he has been our basketball coach since that day. Coach Roberson has built our basketball program from the ground up,” Mitchell said. “He sees the athletics as a avenue towards growing God’s kingdom and making kids better team players, and kids with better character.”
“Part of our motto is playing for each other and not ourselves, and playing for his glory. A lot of you times you know when you do that, when you really focus on that, you’re blessed,” Roberson said. “I love PCA. PCA is the place to be, man. it doesn’t get much better than this, and I’ve come to realize that and understand that, and a lot of people will think “Hey, man, go try something else. The grass is greener on the other side.”
The grass could always be greener, but for Roberson, he’s happy making a lasting impact on future students’ lives to come at PCA.
