Seven Vehicles Involved in Crash with MPS Bus

Preliminary findings of MPD’s investigation indicate that a total of seven vehicles were involved in Wednesday’s crash at Taylor Road and the Troy Highway.

The investigation indicates that the crash occurred when the tractor-trailer, which was traveling northbound on the Troy Highway, ran through a red light at the Taylor Road intersection and struck a two passenger vehicles. This initial collision resulted in a chain reaction of crashes involving the MPS bus and three additional vehicles.

Five passenger-vehicle occupants were transported for treatment of injuries. At this point, two injured vehicle occupants, both juveniles, remain hospitalized in stable condition (one at Baptist Medical Center South; one was life-flighted to Children’s in Birmingham).

We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
