Former Elmore Co. Commissioner Pleads Guilty to Ethics Violation

A former Elmore County commissioner has pleaded guilty to a felony ethics law violation.

Attorney General Luther Strange says Joe Faulk entered his plea Thursday in Elmore County Circuit Court to intentionally using his office for personal gain.

Strange says Faulk’s charge comes from a 2011 contract he entered into with Coast2Coast, a company which distributes pharmacy discount cards. Faulk’s job was to help get contracts with county commissions across the state. Each time a customer used the card, Faulk received a commission.

Al.com reports Faulk was arrested after a complaint was filed on Oct. 25.

Faulk resigned from his position last month. His sentencing date has not been scheduled, but the punishment for the Class B felony is two to 20 years in prison.
