More Rain, and a Stormy Monday Ahead

We are in the midst of an active weather pattern here in the river region. More scattered showers will track across the River Region Sunday evening. The rain and cloudcover will hold temperatures steady in the mid 50s overnight. There will most likely be a lull in the rainfall Monday morning into the early afternoon hours. Skies during that time will be mostly cloudy, will some isolated showers possible. Another Gulf low will track through Louisiana towards northwest Mississippi Monday afternoon and evening with a trailing cold front. The river region will be located in a relatively unstable air mass, and the approaching cold front will ignite thunderstorms as it tracks eastward. Some of these storms could be strong to severe as they track through the River Region. The most likely timing for these storms will be in the 6pm Monday to 6am Tuesday time-frame.

Storms will clear the area Monday morning and the cold front will push through the area. Temperatures fall during the day Tuesday, and will be in the upper 50s by the evening hours. Wednesday looks to be dry and mild, highs in the lower 60s. There is another chance for rain ahead of the next cold front on Thursday. Thursday will be on the cool side with highs in the mid 50s. This cold front will bring a shot of Arctic air into the River Region. This front will drop low temps into the lower to mid 20s for Friday and Saturday morning. Highs will only be in the 40s for Friday and Saturday.

The cold weather won’t stick around too long, however. More mild temperatures are expected for Sunday and Monday afternoon.
