Cold Start to Weekend
COLD DAY AHEAD: After the cold start, we are in store for a gorgeous day with tons of sun, and a beautiful cobalt blue sky, but looks are going to be deceiving. Highs today will struggle to reach the mid and upper 40s Tonight, should yield our coldest temperatures this week as the sky will be clear, and the winds go to near calm. This will allow for optimal radiational cooling, which will send those temperatures back well below freezing to start our weekend.
THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Saturday will be our coldest morning and we are still expecting lows between 22 and 28 degrees across South/Central Alabama. Saturday afternoon, will be sunny and temperatures will begin to moderate as lower 50s are expected. Temperatures will continue an upward trend Saturday night with only lower 30s expected. Sunday will feature a few more clouds, and those clouds will be increasing late in the day. By Sunday night, a shower will be possible and more widespread rain arrives as our next storm system approaches to start the new work week. Highs Sunday will be in the lower 60ss.
RAIN RETURNS: Expect the rain to spread across the state Sunday night and Monday. It will be another round of much needed rain and an additional half an inch is possible. We look to get a break on Tuesday, but another system looks to pass across the state on Wednesday with another round rain. Neither system next week looks to have a threat of severe weather, which is certainly some very good news.
