Brief Cold Snap; Rain Returns this Weekend

It will be a cool afternoon across the River Region. Highs will only be in the low 50s despite the sunny skies. It will also be a bit windy, expect winds out of the north at 5-15 mph. Temps fall below freezing overnight. Most locations will drop to the upper 20s by early Friday morning. However, the cold weather will be short-lived. The return of southerly winds will help warm us up on Friday. Expect highs in the lower 60s. Temperatures fall for a brief period Friday evening, before they actually start to warm going into Saturday morning. A surge of warmth will return on Saturday. Highs may reach the mid 70s. We will probably see more clouds than sun on Saturday. There is a slight chance for rain Saturday night, but most of the rain holds off until Sunday.

Thunderstorms will be possible ahead of an approaching cold front, especially Sunday afternoon and evening. The front will move through Sunday evening, and temperatures will drop quickly behind it. By Sunday night temperatures will be in the low 40s to upper 30s. Rain chances will stick around even after the front moves through. It will be cooler to start next week again, with highs in the low 50s. Overnight lows on Monday and Tuesday will be in the upper 30s to low 40s. Scattered shows and maybe a few rumbles of Thunder will be possible each day next week, before another front moves in late Thursday/ early Friday and brings us more widespread rainfall.
