Toy Vault Toys Picked Up for Distribution
Toys, toys and more toys. They filled our toy vault and spilled over into our studio. But it was a good problem to have and, with the help of our sponsors, we got to work!
All the toys were packed in bags and loaded on to trucks.
“This is overwhelming. This is the third year and by far the best year we’ve had so far. There’s going to be a lot of happy kids come Sunday morning,” said Maj. Walter Strong with The Salvation Army in Montgomery.
And, of course, we couldn’t do it without our local sponsors.
“I’ve never seen it this packed full of toys, and it makes me get ready for next year. I want to give even more toys for the boys and girls,” said Robert Needham with Capitol Hyundai.
“It’s natural for those in the motorcycle community to give back to the community. It’s been a standing tradition no matter what you ride for years and years,” said Mark Joseph with Harley-Davidson of Montgomery.
“Main goal is community. Without the community, there is no radio station. So it works both ways. And kids are involved, and when kids are involved you have to! That’s the very essence of Christmas– kids and giving,” said “Da Lil Homie” from iHeartMedia.
“This is important to us. We want to take time as faculty, staff and students to give back to the community and show our love for them,” said Laina Costanza from Amridge University.
“We’re just happy to be a part of it and help out the Salvation Army to make sure everybody from underprivileged families be able to have a good Christmas,” said Benjamin McNeill with United Food and Fuel.
It took about 45 minutes to pack all the bags and load them to the trucks.
“We’ve been picking up the toys as the drive’s been going on. We’ve had a lot of excitement and a lot of fun being able to do this for the last 3 years with y’all, being partners with you,” said Eric Isaacson from A Mini Flex Storage.
And very soon these toys will be bringing lots of smiles to faces of children across the River Region.
We also thank Wal-Mart on Chantilly Parkway for being our “Official Shopping Headquarters” this year.
Toys will be distributed Tuesday to families that are already registered with The Salvation Army.
