Greenville PD Opens Annual Amnesty Program

The Greenville Amnesty Program begins February 1st and runs until the end of March.

Greenville Police are once again extending the annual Amnesty Program to anyone who may have outstanding warrants in the Greenville system.

The Amnesty Program is designed to give those who are unable to pay those fines a little relief. That could be up to 33% off the total amount of the fines or even working out a payment program. Lieutenant Danny Bond is heading up the program, and says last year almost 200 people came in.

He says paying off these warrants could help you get or keep a job and keep you out of jail the next time you’re stopped. But Bond wants the public to know, you have to be the one to call.

“The purpose of this program is to help them get these warrants out of the way,” Bond explains. “So they’re not looking around, over their shoulder to see if the police is coming to get them. It’s for us to get them taken care of and for us to get them out of the way.”

The amnesty program begins the first of February and runs until the end of March. You can call Greenville Police at (334) 382 – 7461 and ask to speak to Bond for more information.
