MPD Charges Suspect in Homicide
The Montgomery Police Department has charged a suspect in the homicide of 64-year-old Broderick Shields, who died from injuries he received in a Jan. 15 physical assault.
Shields was pronounced dead Jan. 30 at Jackson Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment since the assault.
On Sunday, Jan. 15, MPD and Fire Medics responded to the 500 block of 5th Street in reference to an assault.
Upon arrival, they located the victim, who had sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Jackson Hospital for treatment. The investigation identified Willie Addison III, 36, of Montgomery as the suspect.
On Monday, Jan. 30, MPD charged Addison with one count of murder. Addison previously had been charged with one count of first-degree assault following the Jan. 15 assault.
Addison was taken back into custody Monday evening by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force. Following his arrest he was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was being held under a $150,000 bond.
