A Very Warm Start to February!

The first day of February is upon us, which means we are still firmly in the middle of winter. However, temperatures today will feel much more like spring. Highs across central and south Alabama Wednesday will be in the upper 70s. Expect our mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies to continue this afternoon. Tonight, more cloudcover works into the area ahead of a very slow moving cold front. Some showers will be possible tonight, especially north of I-85/Highway 80 after midnight.

The front will continue to work south on Thursday. It should be approximately along the I-85/Hwy 80 corridor tomorrow morning. Showers will be possible tomorrow morning, especially north of the front. The front will continue to drag south during the day, and will make it through south Alabama by Thursday night. Scattered showers will be possible behind the front Thursday afternoon. Highs on Thursday will still be warm, around 70 degrees. Cooler air will work into the area on Friday. Highs will only be in the lower 60s. A few isolated to scattered showers are possible, and skies will be mostly cloudy on Friday. Temps could fall into the 30s on Friday night into early Saturday.

Saturday will be a very nice day, highs in the low 60s with partly cloudy skies. We should get a break from the rain on Saturday, before additional showers become possible on Sunday. Superbowl Sunday afternoon highs will be in the lower 60s, with mostly cloudy skies. Next week begins on a warming trend. Mid 60s expected on Monday, with 70s back for Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain will also return to the area on Tuesday and looks to be the most likely on Wednesday. Some thunderstorms will be possible next Wednesday as well.
