Cool, Cloudy, and Some Showers for Superbowl Sunday
It was a very nice February day across central and south Alabama. A little on the cool side with highs only in the upper 50s, but abundant sunshine throughout the day. For tonight, clouds will be on the increase and it will become a little chilly. Not as cold as last night, but lows will reach the lower 40s by sunrise. Also, some showers will be possible, mostly after midnight tonight into tomorrow morning. Skies will be mostly cloudy to overcast for Sunday, with showers possible throughout the day. If you’re heading out to watch the game, it would be a great idea to bring a rain jacket. Overall, looks like rain totals will be very light and most likely for areas along and north of the Hwy 80/I-85 corridor. Highs Sunday will be in the upper 50s to around 60.
The possibility for rain continues into Sunday night. Lows will be in the upper 40s. Additional showers possible Monday morning, as a warm front lifts northward. Temperatures surge behind this front, and afternoon highs will be in the lower 70s. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy through the day. Upper 50s for Monday night lows, then mid 70s for Tuesday afternoon as southerly wind flows keeps temperatures on the warm side. Storms are expected Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night, and some of those could be on the strong side.
The weather pattern dries out Wednesday, before another upper level disturbance gives us a chance for a few showers Thursday afternoon. Sunnier skies and cooler weather will be back for the end of the week and the weekend. Right now, looks like upper 50s for Friday, lower 60s for Saturday, and upper 60s possible for Sunday.
