“A Living Hope” Update

For the past three months, Rhonda Adair has been in the fight of her life.
With a four year old and 3 month old by her side, she has been getting treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
But now the doctors say her cancer has spread with a prognosis of just a matter of weeks.
We talked to her sister, Robyn, who is also in Houston with her by phone.

“The PET scan, the results, we were devastated to hear the final report, but we weren’t really shocked because we had seen her get better and then where she backtracked a little bit. So it wasn’t shocking, but it was devastating when you actually heard the report,” said Robyn Baker.

Rhonda’s doctor gave her 3 choices: to continue chemo IV for the rest of her life, take an oral chemo pill or go home on hospice.

“The doctor strongly suggests that we go home on hospice. But Rhonda says she is not ready to give up yet, so we just have to navigate that,” said Baker.

Rhonda chose the oral chemo.

Robyn says Rhonda now has weakness in her legs causing her not to be able to stand up.
A MRI will be taken soon of her back with potential radiation therapy.
Meanwhile, Rhonda and her family hold strong to their faith.

“I love the verse that says, ‘our God is able to deliver us, but even if he doesn’t, we won’t bow down.’ I love that and it rings true because I don’t want anyone who hears Rhonda’s story that the success or failure of what God did to define God’s character, because God’s good and He is able,” said Baker.
